Plantsman, Plant Explorer & Horticulturist

I have worked in horticulture since 1978. From 1978 to 1994, I served as Landscape Director at the NC State Fairgrounds. Since 1986, I have been Proprietor of Plant Delights Nursery and founder of Juniper Level Botanic Garden. My work includes international plant exploration, plant hybridization, nursery management, plant conservation, horticultural writing, and international garden lectures. I have also served on the USDA-ARS Hardiness Zone Map Advisory Committee and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture Rare Plant Conservation Scientific Committee. My experience also includes garden journalism, horticultural publishing, plant research, and education.
